Newborn Session Information

Congratulations to you and your family on your new arrival! Having a baby is such an exciting time. Those first few weeks are easily forgotten with all the sleepless nights. Newborn photos are a great way to capture those memories before they are gone too quickly. There is a lot that goes into a newborn session. Below are some things to be prepared for so that we have a smooth session!

Please be sure to contact me to let me know you're interested in booking a session. I will add you to my expecting mothers list. Once your babe is here contact me to book your session. I prefer to stay under 14 days for newborns, so be sure to get with me as soon as possible. Sessions for newborns are typically done weekday midmornings. Please be aware that I keep my studio space 80-90 degrees for newborn sessions to keep baby comfortable for posing. Sessions are usually about 2-3 hours long. Posing babies takes lots of patience and time to get things right for the perfect photo.

Before Your Session

Please let me know if there are any certain colors or props you'd prefer to use. I have lots to choose from and you're welcome to use it all for your session. Feel free to look through my images and let me know if there is anything you'd like. You're welcome to bring items to use as well and we will work them in.

Be sure to feed your baby before or at the beginning of your session. Try not to let your baby sleep for too much time right before the session so we can get him/her to sleep once you arrive.

At Your Session

My normal workflow starts with baby posing on my table, some prop posing, family/siblings, and any last prop posing (usually bucket last). Please try to arrive on time or a few minutes early if possible. Since the baby is the main focus in most of the beginning, if you have young kids they are welcome to stay around. Be sure to bring things for them to do just in case. If you'd like to have someone bring them midway through the session, that is fine too. Although I do try to follow a workflow, It doesn't always go as planned. I will not make a baby do anything they don't want to do. Keeping them comfortable and safe is a top priority.

Additional Info

Turn around time for newborns is longer than regular sessions. Its about 3-4 weeks depending on the time of year. I take each image into photoshop to edit out any blemishes or fix backgrounds. Thanks for being so patient and understanding. Please message me if you have any other questions about these sessions. I'm looking forward to working with you and your family!
